Enclosed vs. Open Air Photo Booths: Which Is Right for Your Event or Venue?

Short answer: An enclosed photo booth is a booth with walls and a curtain, so guests step inside for a more private session. An open air photo booth has no enclosure, so it's more out in the open. Pick enclosed if you want that step inside moment and a big surface to brand. Pick open air if you want something more exposed to the room.

What is an enclosed photo booth?

An enclosed photo booth is a booth guests step into, usually through a curtain. The walls give people a little privacy, which tends to make them loosen up. Ours is 52.5 in wide x 32 in deep, 72.5 in tall with the standard roof or 79.5 in tall with the marquee topper.

What is an open air photo booth?

An open air photo booth is a setup without walls around the guests. It sits out in the room, so the session happens in view of everyone nearby.

Privacy and the step inside feel

There's something about stepping behind a curtain. Guests who'd never pose in the middle of a room will go a little wild inside a booth. That privacy is the biggest reason people choose enclosed.

Footprint

An enclosed booth has a fixed size, so you know exactly what you're planning around. Ours is 52.5 in wide x 32 in deep, 72.5 in tall with the standard roof or 79.5 in tall with the marquee topper. Leave room in front for a line and an easy way in and out.

The whole booth is a canvas

This is where enclosed really shines for us. The outside of the booth is a big, visible surface, and on our booth it's fully customizable. You can brand one panel with The Spotlight, three panels with The Trio, or the full wrap with The Full Show. Add an optional marquee topper, pick the curtain, and customize the start and end screens and strip layout. We can design it, or you can bring your own artwork.

Which photo booth is best for weddings, corporate events or bars?

  • Weddings: Enclosed works well when you want guests to have a private, fun moment and a booth that matches your colors.
  • Corporate events and brand activations: Enclosed gives you the most surface to brand, from the wrap to the screens.
  • Bars and venues: A permanent enclosed booth can be designed to match your space and become part of the room.
